What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. According to Wikipedia, SEO is “the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s unpaid results.” These unpaid results are also known as organic ranking results.
To describe SEO is simpler terms; search engine optimization is tweaking your website/blog content so search engines, like google, display your content when select keywords are input. Ideally, you want to display on page one of google.
How important is SEO? Well it depends on if you want your content found. Simply writing a blog or content and placing it on your website is not enough for search engines to realize it is there. With over 75% of consumers searching topics on Google, I would say it is important.
How to improve SEO on google:
Wondering how to improve your SEO on google? Unfortunately there is no clear written path to ensure your website or content will appear on page one of google. With that said, there are steps you can take to greatly improve your odds of landing on page one. This process begins with having a clear plan for which keywords you want to rank.
The keywords you select should be:
- Relevant to your website
- Researched to ensure the topic is not broad
- Researched to ensure your keywords are actually being searched
Once you have selected your keywords, decide what information you want to share about your keywords.
I personally like to pick a topics and then I write anywhere from 10-15 blogs about that topic and use my keywords. It’s critical to ensure your articles are relevant to your keywords. Search engines are very advanced and will know if you are sending the consumer to an article that is not relevant.
